Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicinal practice that has been used for thousands of years. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin, hair-like needles in parts of the body to alleviate a range of health conditions.

Acupuncture is thought to work by stimulating the central nervous system and releasing endorphins into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. This can activate the body’s natural healing abilities and may assist with a wide range of health problems, including:

  • Allergies
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Cramps
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Hypertension
  • Insomnia
  • Infertility (many of our patients combine acupuncture with IVF)
  • Migraines
  • Morning sickness
  • Nausea
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sprains
  • Strokes

Frequently asked questions

Because the needles are so thin, very few people report feeling discomfort during an acupuncture session. Any sensation felt during a session is often brief and mild.

The number of sessions that you’ll require will depend on your condition and how you respond to treatment. We typically recommend several sessions to get the full effect of the treatment.

We begin each session with a health consultation to understand your condition. After that, we begin inserting the needle into specific points depending on your ailment, which will create a tingling sensation. Once all of the needles are in place, you will rest for 15-30 minutes.

Yes. Many of our patients combine acupuncture with traditional medicines, particularly IVF as we specialise in treating fertility issues.

The duration of relief varies from person to person. Some people will experience relief immediately, while others may experience gradual improvements over repeated sessions.
